The Tamang Heritage Trail is the recently opened trekking trail in the Langtang region that provides a perfect chance to explore the culture of the region with the view of gorgeous mountain peaks of the Langtang Region of Nepal. In the remote region of Lanthang, you will get to explore the rich cultures and traditions of the Tamang people who experience their lifestyle. We will be passing through various small settlements and villages like Gatlang, Goljung, Chilime, Thuman, Timure, and Briddim along the trekking trails. The trek presents you with a great chance to experience the distinct customs of the people and help you learn more about these traditional villages. The inhabitants of the villages in these regions have successfully preserved their cultures. Their unique rituals and practices are reflected exquisitely in the various monasteries, gumbas, and chaityas that we will pass along the trekking trail. Most of the houses in these regions are decorated gorgeously with beautiful carvings. Most of the residents here engage in handicrafts. So, a wide range of baskets and handicrafts is kept on display throughout the villages. During festival time, the people wear traditional clothes, dance, and sing folk songs with unique dialects. The villages in the Langtang region perfectly reflects the unique culture and tradition of Tamang. The trail has not been touched by urbanness, so the cultures and customs of the people are still intact. 

You will be presented with quite a joyful experience while trekking along the trail of the Tamang Heritage Trek. The vibrant, colorful clothes and traditional dresses are worn by the people, the gorgeously decorated houses with mind-blowing craftworks accompanied by the majestic views of the silver mountains against the lush green hills- the journey itself feels like a paradise. The Tamang Heritage trek begins with a scenic drive to Syarubesi, and then we will trek to Gatlang. From Gatlang, we will visit the city of natural spring- Tatopani. Eventually, our trek continues to the Tamang villages and settlements around Langtang Valley. The Tamang Heritage Trek is an astonishing experience, full of interesting facts, gorgeous natural beauty and sights of Tamang people and their local lifestyle.

Day One:

Day 01 - Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu

Upon arriving at Kathmandu, you will meet our airport representative, who will transfer you to your respective hotel in Thamel. On your way to the hotel, our airport representative will provide you the brief details about your further activities. We have no plan on this day. You will simply meet your trekking guide. He will provide you with a brief explanation of your further plans. After that, you can just rest at your hotel or involve in any activities you like. When the sun sets, our company will organize a welcome dinner for you to enjoy.

Day Two:

Kathmandu Sightseeing and trekking preparation

Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. It is also one of the most significant historical city. This city is full of UNESCO World Heritage Site. On your trip, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Kumari Temple, Hanuman Dhoka Museum, the statue of Kaal Bhairab (the god of destruction), Taleju Vawani. You will also visit Pashupatinath-one of the biggest Hindu Temple of Nepal, the world-known monkey temple- Swoyambunath and largest stupa – Boudhanath. Then, we will make our way towards Bhaktapur, which was the former royal capital. The city is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here you will visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, traditional houses, and traditional Newari museums. Then, we will go to Nagarkot hill, which is one of the best destinations to view the whole Kathmandu Valley. Finally, we will visit Lalitpur, where we will learn about Nepalese history. In the evening, we will prepare all the gears necessary and we will give you detail information about the trip.

Day Three:

Drive to Syabrubesi (1462m)

Our trip to explore Tamang culture begins with a drive to Syabrubesi, which will take approximately eight hours. Heading to the northern side of Kathmandu, we will be driving through gorgeous hills and ridgeline scenes and pass through Dunche to reach Syabrubesi. As the drive crosses the village of Dunche, the path goes through even deeper terrains that gets more and more enclosed with the wild natural vegetation. While moving through the bank of the Trishuli River, we will witness the majestic Ganesh Himal towering over the rice, maize, and mustard terrace farms and lush green hills. Set at the foot of the large green hills, Syabrubesi is a gorgeous small village. There are vast open farms all around Syabrubesi, which makes the view of distant mountain peaks even more beautiful. Old Syabrubesi lies on the eastern shore of the Trishuli Ganga River and is just in the distance of twenty minutes' walk from Syabrubesi. We can see beautiful green hills all around the village of Syabrubesi, and the village also has good accommodation. The village is blessed with narrow-cut gorges and lush green hillsides. Smell the wonderful fragrance from rhododendron forests spread all around the trail during the spring season, making the trekking experience even more exciting. 

Day Four:

Trek to Gatlang (2238m)

Today is the first day we will start the trip on foot. We will commence the trek with a delicious breakfast. Walking for approximately three hours, we will reach Ronga Bhanjyang. The trail to Ronga Bhanjyang is a bit steep. On the route, we will take a short break at the viewpoint from where we can get a mesmerizing view of the Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range, and the Goljang Valley. After the break, we will descend towards the Goljung valley, which might take up to one and a half-hour. At Goljung Valley, we will stop for lunch. After having a delicious lunch, we will begin our trekking to Gatlang. It will take approximately three hours to reach the gorgeous ethnic Tamang village- Gatlang. Gatlang, one of the major Tamang settlements of the Langtang region, is a stunning place. At Gatlang, we can visit the Parbati Kund, which is popular among nature lovers due to its rich biodiversity. We can also pay a visit to an ancient monastery.

Day Five:

Gatlang to Tatopani (2610m)

On the way to Tatopani, we will get to enjoy a beautiful view of the Langtang range and the Ganesh Himal. We will pass through many Chortens and Mani walls and cross through deep forest before arriving at Chilime. Then, we will cross a suspension bridge, passing through the terrace farms to reach Gonggang village, where we will stop for a lunch break. After lunch, we will begin our trek uphill to Tatopani. Tatopani means "hot water," and the place is named, such as the area is famous for natural hot water springs, which are believed to have healing properties. We can also take a bath in these springs, and there are also many spas in this area. 

Day Six:

Tatopani to Thuman(2340m) via Nagthali

The trek begins after breakfast. We will continue our journey through the dense forests and gradually ascend uphill. The trail is full of ups and downs until we reach Brimdang. After Brimdang, we need to climb up steep hills to arrive at the Nagthali lodges viewpoint, where we will stop for a short lunch break. We can see mountain peaks such as Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Shishapangma (8,013m), Ganesh Himal (7,422m), and Tibetan Himal, among many others. Also, we will be visiting small monasteries along the way. After enjoying the view from Nagthali, we will descend to Thuman. Thuman is a Tamang settlement with friendly, fun-loving people. The village is influenced by Tibetan culture and lifestyle.

Day Seven:

Trek to Briddim (2230m)

To reach our destination for the day, we should cross through the wildest river of Nepal- Bhote Koshi River. Our trek initially begins with a flatter section and then goes downwards to Timure on our way along the old trade route to Tibet, where we stop for a short break. From here, we will climb a steep trail to Briddim- another Tibet influenced Tamang Village, where we will spend the night and learn about the lifestyle of the people. 

Day Eight:

Trek to Lama Hotel (2420m)

From Briddim, we will ascend uphill towards the Lama Hotel, which might take about six hours. We will also head to the Bhote Koshi valley and pass through lush green forests, terraced fields and move through rural villages with bamboo and birch woods. Around this area, we might also get to see the endangered Red Panda. Further, the trek ascends steadily to Rimche through Bamboo, situated at the shore of the Langtang River. Continuing the trek, we will reach the Lama Hotel set at a height of 2470 meters. 

Day Nine:

Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m)

Starting our day with an early morning breakfast, we will trek beside the river through the lush landscape as we ascend uphill through dense forests. If the sky is clear, we might also see mountain peaks on the way. The trail starts to widen from the place called Ghoda tabela, which means horse stable. From here, we will trek further to Chyamki village. Then, passing various chortens, water mills, mani walls, and prayer wheels, we will reach the Langtang Village. 

Day Ten:

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa(3865m)

Today's trek will be relatively easy than before. We will move through various small plateaus, big mani walls, yak pastures, small villages, and meadows. As we will be walking to a higher altitude, we will be walking at a slow pace so that our body can get accustomed to the environment. Within the walk of about four hours, we will reach an ancient monastery- the Kyanjing Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is famous for its lavish decorations and the views you can get of surrounding mountain peaks from here. 

Day Eleven:

Acclimatization day at Kyanjin

Today, we will be exploring the Kyanjin village and go for short hikes around. Due to the village being in high altitude, we get to enjoy beautiful mountain scenery and also icy glaciers. We will be visiting the Kyanjin Monastery and many other small monasteries where we can learn more about Tibetan Buddhism. We will also visit the cheese factory to taste the delicious dairy products made from the yak. Besides, we might hike to Langhisa Kharka or Kyanjin Ri from where we can get enchanting views of the Langtang mountain range. In the evening, we will return to the village of Kyanjin. 

Day Twelve:

Trek back to Lama Hotel (2420m)

Admiring the view of the beautiful towering mountains, fragrant rhododendron forests, and the natural beauty, we will head back from Kyanjin to Lama Hotel. We will move through the trail of Langtang Village to reach the Lama Hotel. 

Day Thirteen:

Trek to Syarubeshi (1462m)

Today is the last day we will be trekking in the Langtang region. We will return to Syabrubesi- the starting point of our trek. From there, we will drive back to Kathmandu. On our way to Syabrubesi, we will walk beside the Langtang river, move through the gorgeous river valley and descend through the gorgeous bamboo and birch forests. After crossing the Langtang village and the Bhote Koshi River, we will arrive at Syabrubesi, where we will spend the night.

Day Fourteen:

Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

After enjoying the adventurous trek and experiencing the unique Tamang culture, we will take a private vehicle to return to Kathmandu. We will leave Syabrubesi in the early morning. Along the way, we will get a chance to see the scenic views of the Trishuli river valley as we head through the south of the hills. Also, we will get more chances to see the majestic Himalayas from the road. We will be arriving at Kathmandu within nine hours. So, the rest of the time is free for you. 

Day Fifteen:

Trip Concludes

This is the day you will depart from Nepal. Our airport representative will transfer you to the Tribhuwan International Airport approximately three hours of your scheduled flight.
