For travelers who are looking for a trek in a serene environment, The Langtang Valley Trek is an ideal trekking destination which can be completed by trekkers of any age and skills. The entire region of Langtang is flourished by Tibetan influenced Tamang people and Sherpas. So, everyone who hikes to Langtang Valley will have the opportunity of experiencing culture and tradition similar to the Tibetan. Furthermore, you can also visit ancient Buddhist monasteries that are scattered over the Langtang region.

The Langtang Valley Trek offers an eye-catching view of the Himalayas along the way. Besides the Himalayan panorama, you will also trek through dense alpine forests, roaring rivers, and murmuring birds along with numerous isolated yet beautiful villages. The villagers are known to be very friendly and helpful with whom you can have some small chat. Also known as the "Valley of Glaciers," we will get to see some breathtaking glaciers in the trek. As said before, the majestic view of the Langtang range will be right before your eyes dominated by Mount Langtang Lirung (7246 m). But, you can also get the opportunity to climb Tserko Ri (4985m), the highest point of the Langtang Valley Trek. 

The safe and adventurous Langtang Valley Trek is suitable for both families and solo trekking. It is also a trekking destination that is near to the capital, Kathmandu, only about an 8-hour drive. Tea houses in Langtang Valley Trek are much simpler than Everest and Annapurna Region. Despite being simpler and smaller, they will offer some excellent food and a night of comfortable and cozy sleep.

The trek will start from Syabrubenshi along the magnificent Langtang Valley to reach Tserko Ri, the highest point of the trek. After reaching the summit, you will follow the same way back to reach Syabrubenshi.

Itinerary Show all

Day One:

Arrival in Kathmandu (1310 m) - about 30-minute drive

On the first day, you will arrive in the capital of the country, Kathmandu, also known as the city of temples. Our staff will welcome you at the only International Airport of Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport. From there, they will transfer you to your hotel on a private vehicle.

You won't be trekking on this day. So, it is an excellent opportunity to stroll around the capital for some good time. You will be able to cover a lot in a small amount of time as the capital; Kathmandu is a small city.

Day Two:

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubenshi (1450 m) - 8-hour drive

Your second day will mostly be a long and tiring 8-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi. The long journey might be tiring, but the views aren't. As you start driving through the North-Western region of Kathmandu valley, you will pass through fantastic Scenery of lush forests and stunning villages.

We will take a quick lunch break either in Trishuli or Kalikasthan and then start to hit the road again till we reach Syabrubensi to spend the night. The dive is long and might be a little annoying, but you will have some fun in the thrilling roads of Kalikasthan. During monsoon, landslides are common, which makes it even more exciting.

The road goes through the lush green forests of the hilly region, which some occasional bloomed rhododendron, chattering birds and animals, and clean waterfalls that fall from the hills. Besides the Scenery, we will also encounter many villages set on the edge of the Rocky Mountains. You will also see several locals carrying heavy loads in the cliffs. That will be the first impression of the Langtang Valley.

Once we reach Dunche, the road starts to descend downwards gradually towards Syabrubensi, the starting point of the Langtang Valley Trek. It is a small town with a few numbers of lodges for visitors of the region. There may be a few lodges, but you can get good food and a good night's sleep in this small town.

Day Three:

Trek to Sherpa Gaon (Village) (2,560 m) - 5-6 hours

It is the first day of actual trekking, which is short and easy. The trekking starts after crossing the Bhote Koshi River. Starting from here, you will head to Wankal Village, a small Tamang village. From Wankal village, you will trek through the trail that ascends steeply, taking you to Khanjung village. It is another stunning village inhabited by Tamang people with their unique culture. Besides culture, the village also offers some nice camping sites. You will reach Khanjung village by lunchtime, where you will take a small break.

From here, you will proceed further towards Syarpa Gaon village. You will need to trek through the trail that is mostly uphill to reach Syarpa Gaon village, where you will spend a night in a trekking lodge. The lodge might be small, about you will get some good food and a comfortable bed to sleep in.

Day Four:

Trek to Langtang Village - 7 hours trek

After some comfortable sleep in Syarpa Gaon, we will have some freshly cooked breakfast start our trek to reach Langtang Valley. The trails to Langtang Valley has numerous ups and downs, which might be a little difficult than other days. One our way, we will first reach Rimche, a small place with a couple of beautiful houses.

From Rimche, we will follow a flat path to get to Lama Hotel. It is one of the most famous overnight stop in Langtang valley trek for many trekkers. It is another small town for tasty meals and cozy accommodation for trekkers. Moving on with our trek, we will enter the dense forest where we will experience some wildlife along with fresh air.

Offering roaring Langtang River on the one hand and chattering Himalayan birds, on the other hand, Langtang Valley Trek is one of the best trekking destinations in Nepal. Moving through the forested path, we will reach Gumma Chok AKA Riverside. From here, we will get to Ghora Tabela (2,950 m) and take a quick lunch break.

Ghora Tabela has some lodges, which primarily serves hot lunch for travelers. Ghora Tabela is at a higher altitude, which offers a close-up view of the Himalayas along with hot and tasty lunch. After we have our lunch, we will continue our trek. Soon after starting, we will have our permits checked by army officials. Then, we will head to Thangsyap and Chamki village. From there, we will head to Langtang Village.

Langtang Village is the biggest village of the region with cozy accommodation and lovely food. Besides that, it is set on the shade of Langtang Lirung Peak and offers its close-up view. Langtang Village was hit badly by the earthquake in 2015.

Day Five:

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,900 m), Valley Exploration - 4 hours

We will have another freshly cooked breakfast in Langtang and then head on to Kyanjin village. The trails are mostly gradual ascend along with a majestic panoramic view of the Himalayas. Along the way, we will pass through stunning villages like Mondoo and Singdum. Meanwhile, you will also walk through the grassland with numerous yaks grazing.

Besides that, you will also witness various mani walls with Buddhist prayers scripted on them. When walking through the religious places, we are supposed to walk clockwise. We will even be crossing bridges everywhere, small and big.

Day Six:

Hike to Tserko Ri (4,985 m) and return to Kyanjin Gompa - 6-7 hours

It is one of the main highlights of our Langtang Valley Trek. We will get to the top of the Tserko RI (4,985 m), the highest point of the trek. We will get some food to eat on the top. The hiking trail of the Tserko RI is a little complicated, puzzling and lengthy, but reaching to the top is worth the effort.

The summit of the Tserko RI offers a 360-degree view of the Himalayas with its snow-capped peaks. Once we are done with enjoying the views, we will head back to Kyangin Gompa.

We will stay on Kyangin Gompa on this day as well. We will be surrounded by nature and unique culture. So, you can have a small chat with the friendly locals to learn something about their culture while enjoying nature.

Day Seven:

Trek back to Lama Hotel (2,480 m) - 5-6 hours

After having a delicious meal, we will start our trek descending downwards to reach Lama Hotel. We will follow the same trail downward that we used when ascending to Kyangin Gompa. The hiking path is mostly downhill, so we don't have to rush. The best way to descend is to take a slow pace and trekking while enjoying the beautiful nature surrounding you.

Lama Hotel is a famous destination set alongside Langtang River. We will spend the rest of the day in Lama Hotel and wake up to the roaring sound of Langtang River.

Day Eight:

Trek to Syabrubensi (1,450 m) - 6 hours

It is the last day of our actual trek. We will have the final meal of our trek in a village and then start with our journey to reach Syabrubensi.

It will be an easy day with a downhill trail along the Langtang River. The path goes through the forests offering the rare sight of monkeys.

Day Nine:

Drive back to Kathmandu valley (1310 m) - 8 hours

After having breakfast, we will hop on a morning bus and start heading towards Kathmandu. We will follow the same road as there are no other options. We will have our lunch either in Kalikasthan or Trishuli Bazaar. After that, we will hit the road again till we reach Kathmandu.

Once we reach Kathmandu, we will transfer you to your hotel. We also offer you a complimentary farewell dinner and prepare for your departure for the next day.

Day Ten:

Departure from Kathmandu - about 30-minute drive

This day marks as the end of our memorable trek. We will settle our trek in Kathmandu and also take you to the airport for an outbound flight back from Nepal.

If you still have some time, we will take a stroll to the local market of Kathmandu; those places which you were not able to visit on the first day. If not, we will take you to the airport directly.
