The trek to Gokyo Lake with Renjo La Pass is not as famous as the Everest Base Camp trek; however, this trek in the Everest region brings you side by side with some of the highest peaks in the world and offers breathtaking views of mountains.

This trek takes you to one of the highest mountain passes of the Khumbu region. Renjo La Mountain Pass lies near the border to Tibet. The trek offers you the attractiveness of the Everest region in its best form. This journey will allow you to immerse yourself in the unique features of the Khumbu region. The region is filled with Sherpa settlement, where you can visit and learn more about the Sherpa culture. This trip is not only culturally rich but also full of natural beauty.

The Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass Trek offers you the chance to visit many of the Everest region’s major tourist attractions.

The trek starts with a flight to Lukla. You will be moving to many traditional villages on your way and enjoy the variation in Nepali culture. Similarly, you will be visiting the most renowned mountain village, Namche Bazaar, which is also known as the gateway to Everest. You will also visit Gokyo Lake and the Gokyo RI. The Everest Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek lets you adore the marvels of the Everest Himalayas in the most beautiful way. The region is full of culturally rich Sherpa people and will witness many Buddhist stupas along the way where you can walk under the colorful prayer flags. The natural alpine woods of the Khumbu region is the sight you would not want to miss. Also, the walk through the trail of Sagarmatha National Park with its variety of flora and fauna can be mesmerizing.

Visit the Gokyo Lakes and see three of the six lakes in the area and enjoy the breathtaking view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Nuptse, and many other mountains.

Through the Himalayan town of Namche, move towards the Renjo La Pass. Then continue towards the off-beaten-paths to villages such as Dole and Lunden. Itinerary Show all

Day One:

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu

On your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, our airport representative will meet you at the arrival gate and take you to your hotel. Nothing much is planned for this day, so you will just meet your trekking guide and be informed about your daily activities on your stay. After that, you can just rest at your hotel or involve in any activities you like. In the evening, our company will organize a welcome dinner for you to enjoy.

Day Two:

Kathmandu Sightseeing and trekking preparation

The sightseeing tour starts after breakfast. Today, we will go to explore Kathmandu. Kathmandu is not only the capital city of Nepal but also is one of the most important historic city. This city is filled with UNESCO World Heritage Site. Firstly, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square located at Basantapur, where you will visit Kumari Temple, Hanuman Dhoka Museum, the statue of Kaal Bhairab (the god of destruction), Taleju Vawani (the temple opened once a year on the 9th day of Dashain). You will also visit one of the biggest Hindu Temple of Nepal – Pashupatinath, the famous monkey temple- Swoyambunath and one of the largest stupas in the world – Boudhanath. Then we will move towards Bhaktapur, which was the royal capital, and the whole city is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here you will visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, traditional houses, and traditional Newari museums. Then, we will go to Nagarkot hill, which is one of the best destinations to view the whole Kathmandu Valley. Finally, we will visit Lalitpur, where we will learn about Nepalese history. The evening is left free for your activities.

Day Three:

Fly to Lukla (2800m) and trek to Phakding (2652m)

Right after breakfast, we will catch the early morning flight to Lukla, which is the beginning destination of our trek. The flight takes about thirty-five minutes, and this will be the most amazing flight you have ever experienced. You can enjoy the view of the lush green landscape and snow-filled white mountains. After our arrival at Lukla, we will meet our trek member and finish our arrangement to start the trek through Lukla village to Phakding. The trail to Phakding is filled with a green landscape with a beautiful view of Kusum Kanguru. To get adapt to the atmosphere, we will go for a short trek today. We will be trekking for only about three hours. However, for those wanting to go for additional trips, we can go to Monasteries nearby. We will be spending the night at Phakding.

Day Four:

Hike to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

The hike will start after breakfast. Today’s trek will be quite fascinating with many short ascends and descends with several crosses over the Dudh Koshi River and the stunning view of Mt. Thamserku (6623m) from Benkar village. Then, we will pass many bridges on our way to Sagarmatha National Park, where they will check our permit to keep data of trekkers and local trekking agencies. After our walk through the river bed, we will reach Hillary suspension bridge. Then, we will climb up towards Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is well known as the ancient trading post of Nepalese and Tibetan traders. Here, you can visit many local markets and traditional shops. Also, you can buy any gear you need (although it is quite expensive) or buy some traditional crafts. From here, you will get the first glimpse of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and many other mountains. Today’s trek will be approximately 6 hours. We will spend the night in this beautiful mountain village.

Day Five:

Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

This day is planned to get you accustomed to the high altitude atmosphere. However, the day will not be wasted. We will be hiking towards Thame or do a trip to Khunde or explore Namche Bazaar. Also, we will go to the tourist visitor center near the headquarter of Sagarmatha National Park, where we can see lots of things related to the previous Everest climbers, Sherpa culture and also get the chance to learn about the numerous plant and animal life of the Khumbu region. Furthermore, we will visit an astonishing place called Khumjung. Then we will climb further to the famous airdrome at Syangboche. It is said to be the highest airport in the world at an altitude of 3700meters. Similarly, we will ascend towards the Everest View Hotel from where you can get a panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, and many others. And, after lunch, we will return to Namche Bazaar where we will spend the night.

Day Six:

Hike to Dole (4410m)

Today we will be hiking towards Dole. The trail to dole is quite comfortable in the beginning up to Kyangjuma; however, the climb steeps up out of the valley through gorgeous rhododendron forest. The most challenging place to climb up to is the Mong la, but the places are such a beauty that it is worth the climb. We will stop for lunch at Mong La, where we can enjoy the beautiful scenery of surrounding snow-capped mountains and outstanding valleys. One of the most attractive parts of this day’s trek will be the rich flora and fauna together with wildflowers and Rhododendron. You will also witness wildlife like Pheasants, mountain goats, and musk deer. Moreover, we will pass through lots of Kharkas, and summer settlements used when Sherpa brings hers of yaks to graze in the high pastures. The route then follows through the settlement of Tongba and Gyele to reach Dole, where we will be spending the night. The trek will take about 5 to 6 hours.

Day Seven:

Dole to Macchermo (4470m)

First of all, we will climb up to the striking crest over Dole and then ascend to Lhabarma (4220m) to Luza (4360m). The view of Cho Oyu, Kntega and Thmaseku that you get from this place is one of the finest views from this region. Also, we will walk through lots of summer arrangements and the picturesque village of Luza. Moreover, from the higher part of Luza, we can see the Dudh Koshi valley deep like a gorge with its absolute sides. Trekking along the hillside right over the roaring Dudh Koshi and crossing over a few small settlements, we will reach Macchermo. Macchermo is the final village on your way to Gokyo. At Macchermo, we will get to observe the beautiful stream running down from the Kyajo RI and Phari Lapche Mountains through the middle of the village before dipping into the Dudh Koshi. Then, we will visit the Himalaya Rescue Hospital to learn about the altitude sickness, which is vital as we will learn the preventive measures, symptoms, and first aids. This trek will take about four to five hours.

Day Eight:

Macchermo to Gokyo Lake (4700m)

Today, we will climb toward a ridge to get an excellent view of both down the valley and the huge Mount Kangtega, Thamserku, and the Northern part of Cho-Oyu. We will reach Pangka after a short walk through the Chortne. Then, we will hike down to the Riverbank before starting to climb up to the mortal moraine of Ngozamba Glacier. The hike on the moraine is mostly vertical. As we pass over an Iron Bridge over the stream, the trail levels out when it pursuits the valley cross the first Lake, Longpongo (4690 m), where we will get the chance to inspect the Lama footprints on a stone. The beautiful blue sheet of water at the sight of the second lake – Taboche Tsho will mesmerize you. After a hike of a few minutes, we will reach the third lake, the two linked to rolling streams. Kyoko village lies by the third lake, and Cho- Oyu Mountain as a background set is a perfect view. After lunch, we will walk around the third lake, Dudh Pokhari, and spend our night at Gokyo.

Day Nine:

Acclimatization at Gokyo Valley

This whole day is planned for rest and get adapted to the high altitude. However, it is not recommended to stay idle. So, we will explore the six lakes of Gokyo as it is very famous besides its grand view. Also, we will walk about three kilometers north of Gokyo to see the fourth lake (Thonak Tsho) and fifth lake (Ngozuma Tsho) and stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day Ten:

Climb Gokyo RI (5357m) and Thaknak (4750m)

We will start our trekking from the early morning. Firstly, we will go to Gokyo RI, the major highlight of the trip. Climbing to Gokyo Ri can be quite challenging as it is we need to climb upwards, and the trip will take about 3 hours. From the peak, we will get a beautiful panoramic view of Cho-Oyu, the Gyanchung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and the Tawache. We will also witness the largest glacier of Nepal, Ngozumpa glacier. Then, we will descend to Gokyo, where we will have breakfast and move to Thaknak and spend the night there. Overall, the trip will take about 4 to 5 hours.

Day Eleven:

Trek to Lunden (4300m) through Renjo La Pass (5340m)

The journey of the Renjo La Pass is quite thrilling and challenging as we climb down into the distant northern valley where entree is constrained, and the land almost looks like the Tibetan Valleys past the border. We might get an opportunity to meet Tibetan traders coming down from the Nangpa La pass that leads through the Himalayas from Tibet with their groups of woolly yaks loaded with goods. We will trek for six to seven-hour on day eleven.

Day Twelve:

Trek to Thame (3800m)

After having breakfast, we will trek down to Thame for more astonishing snowcapped mountains. We might also meet the Tibetan trader campsite on our way and witness their unique lifestyle. We will also go to the stunning Thame Monastery that lies about 150 meters above Thame, which is set among many homes of monks and Laypeople. It is rested on the side of a hill overseeing the valley. This is the destination for the spring celebration of the Mani Rimdu festival, which is held around mid-May every year.

Day Thirteen:

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

On day thirteen, we will trek to Namche Bazaar. We will continue our trek, succeeding in the flat and moving down to the first resting place, Thamo, after heading towards Namche Bazaar. The trek back will take about four to five hours; however, it is quite wonderful.

Day Fourteen:

Trek back to Lukla (2800m)

The trek carries on along the Dudh Koshi River to the small mountain airfield at Lukla, where you will catch your return flight to Kathmandu.

Day Fifteen:

Fly back to Kathmandu

We will catch an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Today, you will bid Lukla goodbye with a thirty-minute beautiful scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Upon return, you will be transferred to your hotel. Afterward, you can spend the day resting or shopping in the city or involve in the activity of your preference. 

Day Sixteen:

Trip Concludes

Our airport representative will transfer you to Tribhuwan International Airport around three hours before your flight from where you will depart.
